Em Windhoek, ficamos no Emerald Bed and Breakfast, conveniente para o começo da viagem. Tanto que no retorno, 11/6, também dormi lá, no pernoite que tive de fazer ao chegar de Katima Mulilo. A localização do hotel é muito interessante. Na esquina entre das ruas Best e Banting. Um pedaço da história da ciência, relativo à descoberta da insulina: Frederick Banting foi o cirurgião que teve a ideia que levou à descoberta, e Charles Best foi o estudante que o auxiliou. Macleod (que cedeu espaço em seu laboratório para o estudo), e não a Best. In Windhoek, we stayed at Emerald Bed and Breakfast, convenient for the beginning of the trip. So much that in the return, June 11th, I also slept there, in the night I had to stay in Windhoek, coming from Katima Mulilo. The location of the hotel is quite interesting. Primeira noite na Namíbia, no incrível Joe's Beerhouse, em Windhoek. O lugar nos surpreendeu. A gente esperava um bom restaurante, mas Joe's Beerhouse é mais do que apenas isso. Ele nos lembrou o tipo de lugar que encontramos em destinos praianos, mas também é mais do que isso.
First night in Namibia, in the awesome Joe's Beerhouse, in Windhoek. The place surprised us. We expected a good restaurant, but Joe's Beerhouse is more than just that. It reminded us of the kind of place we find in beach destinations, but it is also more than that.
A comida lá é muito boa. Mas o principal é a personalidade e originalidade do restaurante. As coisas foram bem pensadas, e o humor é tangível. Duas fotos devem bastar para mostrar a originalidade do lugar. Vejam que bancos originais para um bar! Se alguém ficar muito bêbado e começar a incomodar, basta apertar aquele botão!
Food is quite good there. But the major feature is the personality and originality of the restaurant. Things were well thought, and the humour is tangible. Two pics should suffice to show the originality of the place. Look at those original stools for the bar! If someone gets too drunk and starts to bother, one should just press that button!
Este antigo e charmoso Mini está colocado sobre a entrada, como se pode ver na segunda foto. Há melhor maneira de dizer alô para um cliente, que poderia precisar de uma carona de Maputo para Luanda via Windhoek?
This old charming Mini is placed above the entrance, as you can see in the second pic. Is there a better way to say hello to the costumer, who might need a ride from Maputo to Luanda through Windhoek?
