Seguimos de Windhoek para o Elegant Desert Lodge por Rehoboth e Nauchas, passando pelo Spreetshooghte Pass e Solitaire. Foi aqui que deixamos o asfalto e seguimos por estradas de terra pelo resto da viagem nesse dia.

We went from Windhoek to the Elegant Desert Lodge through Rehoboth and Nauchas, passing through Spreetshoogte Pass and Solitaire. It was here that we left the tarmac and followed through gravel roads for the rest of the trip this day.

O primeiro avistamento notável na viagem, na estrada C24/M47, após deixar Rehoboth. Ninhos de tecelões sociáveis (Philetairus socius). Estes animais constroem ninhos comunitários, formados por ninhos colados uns aos outros, sendo cada ninho ocupado por um casal de pássaros e sua progênie. Às vezes os ninhos se tornam tão grandes que podem derrubar uma árvore ou um poste de eletricidade, também muito usados por eles para fazer seus ninhos.

The first remarkable sighting in the trip, in the C24/M47 road, after leaving Rehoboth. Sociable weaver's (Philetairus socius) nests. These animals build community nests, formed by nests attached to each other, being each nest occupied by a couple of birds and their offspring. Sometimes the nests become so big that they can make a tree collapse, or an electricity pole, also much used by them to make their nests.

Parece que esse período em que viemos à Namíbia, entre final de Maio e meados de Junho, é muito bom para a experiência aqui. Raramente encontramos outros carros na estrada e, mesmo nos locais mais conhecidos, não havia multidões. Aqui, o carro que alugamos à Advanced Car Hire, um Toyota Hilux, sozinho na C24/M47, enquanto observávamos o ninho de tecelões sociais. Michel está na estrada atrás do carro.

It seems that the period we chose to come to Namibia, between end of May and mid-June, is very good for the experience here. We rarely found other cars in the rod and even in the most well-known places, there were no crowds. Here, the car we rented from Advanced Car Hire, a Toyota Hilux, alone in C24/M47 road, while we were observing the Sociable weaver's nests. Michel is on the road behind the car.

Depois da C24/M47, Spreetshoogte Pass é alcançado pela D1261 até chegar em Nauchas, onde se entra na D1275, para chegar a Spreetshoogte.

After C24/M47, Spreetshoogte Pass is reached through D1261 until reaching Nauchas, where one enters D1275, to reach Spreetshoogte.
